LIMUN and Harvard WorldMUN were getting closer and it was time for Team London and Team Seoul to come together once again in Munich to make final preparations for the goal we have been working towards for the last months. After having met in January, having spent evenings on online team-calls and coaching sessions, and having conducted thorough research on the countries and topics we are going to represent at LIMUN and WorldMUN, both delegations were absolutely thrilled to see each other again and get ready for the upcoming endeavors, putting the finishing touches to what we had worked on so far.
With regard to this, the weekend started auspiciously on Friday afternoon with a highly instructive workshop on Change Management by Mathias Schlesinger and Stefanie Vogl from Allianz Deutschland AG in the company’s office in Munich Schwabing. After a social warm-up and receiving input on the multifaceted field of change management, we applied the gained knowledge to develop our own change stories – which ideally required us to put ourselves in the positions of be.boosted coaches Tobias and Rima and initiative a transformation process for be.boosted (we are confident that our performances gave them some inspiring ideas). This impressive as well as brisk opening of the weekend was then followed by the social part of the day, which started with a team dinner that later developed into – yes, traditions have to be maintained – a karaoke night.
Saturday morning began as Friday had ended: artistic. Improvisational theater was aimed at refreshing our tired minds (to all coffee-junkies out there: substitutes really exist) that had to be set up for the following continuation of the simulation of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN), which had started at the last offline weekend in January. Having successfully adopted an ample resolution, we then took the chance to do some networking training before going on to a quite challenging task: a city run, which required us to apply all of the negotiation techniques we had been able to acquire over the last months. The following hours were thus composed of rushing through Munich, trying to convince tourists of taking pictures with them, acquiring price tags, bargaining for cheap hair cuts, and so on. For sure, Munich will definitely remember Team be.boosted for our lovely and convincing performances, which furthermore increased team cohesion and gave us an impression of how to act in unfavorable and awkward situations.
While Team London was still able to get some rest from Saturday night, Team Seoul started Sunday morning with a common breakfast with the Honorary Consul of Morocco, Prof. Dr. Ursula Männle, to get firsthand insights about the nation we are going to represent at WorldMUN. Truly inspired by the ample experience of Prof. Männle, Team Seoul then joined Team London to spend the rest of the day on training units in personal branding and public speaking, comprising in particular detailed work on our opening speeches for LIMUN and WorldMUN. Rounded off by presenting the bounties from the city run (a truly amusing matter) and the annual be.boosted Mitgliederversammlung, Sunday depicted an excellent end of an exciting and enriching weekend, which served as a perfect finale of our be.boosted fellowship offline-training sessions. True to the adage “what you plant now, you will harvest later,” a motivated, inspired, and perfectly prepared Team be.boosted is now eagerly looking forward to succeeding at LIMUN next weekend and at WorldMUN in March!
