2017 has been a memorable year for be.boosted as an organization and the individuals who are shaping it – we want to take the chance and share our success-stories and personal accomplishments with you. We are committed to creating positive change, step by step and year by year.
Training - the usual? Not at all!
The year started off with intense training sessions for our teams: Team Montreal 2017 and Team London 2017. The usual offline weekends took place in Berlin in January and in Munich in February. Combining negotiation training, understanding group dynamics and strategy talks with MUN simulations, and spicing everything up with alumni participation, these trainings provided the Teams with the extra push to feel prepared for the conferences. We debated sustainable growth, which enabled our teams to come up with innovative and creative policies, taking their debating skills to the next level.
A total of 24 delegates formed the be.boosted delegation to LIMUN 2017, fondly called #TeamLimtreal that travelled to London in February. We were able to reap our rewards for countless hours of preparations, as a delegation and individually. The awards also firmly planted be.boosted as an organization among the top MUN organizations world wide: 10 individual diplomacy awards, 4 honourable mentions and the one and only Best Large delegation award! Obviously, (re)connecting, fun and dancing was also an integral part of our LIMUN 2017 experience ;).
Well prepared and hyped Team Montreal travelled to freezing Canada to attend the 26th session of the Harvard World Model United Nations conference in March. WorldMUN 2017 had it all: double delegations, committees with more than 200 delegates, everlasting committee sessions, snow storms with -15°C and exciting socials. Ups and downs have always been part of the WorldMUN experience and MUNing in general, but our fellows pulled through, stayed committed and consistently tried to push their respective committees forward. Exhausted and exhilarated we awaited the closing ceremony and were humbled to receive 5 diplomacy awards and the Outstanding Large Delegation award – being the first German delegation to ever achieve this! On a different note, York and Lucas also made it into the official aftermovie, can you spot them?
With that being said, the next and fifth generation of fellows is already in the middle of training, after an exciting selection day in November, Team Panama 2018 has already come together in Berlin once for their first Offline weekend and is getting ready for their second Offline weekend at the moment. Team London 2018 is also ready to finally get going and to embrace the world of MUNing, which means that once again we will be able to go to LIMUN 2018 with a be.boosted delegation comprised of 20 individual delegates! This year we are especially amazed by the diversity of our training team and the people behind the scenes: alumni from all years are enabling the next steps for be.boosted and working hard to make the fellowship-experience worthwhile. Summer Event - meeting old friends and new
Alumni, grow.zonees and newbies gathered at the beginning of September in Munich for a whole weekend of inspiring input and happy mingling. Furthermore, Bertelsman partnered up with us once more to make the weekend a success.
Alumni Highlights - let’s create positive change!
Our alumni and grow.zonees are involved in such a diverse set of projects that it is hard to keep track of what is going on, so we want to give you a glimpse of some of their personal accomplishments.
Some of our alumni and grow.zonees just can't get enough of MUNing and chaired or participated in a variety of conferences, in Germany and abroad:
However, they also participated, organised and managed many more conferences, start-ups or initiatives:
Our alumni also won awards, scholarships and internships, for example Katrin (Team Brussels 2014) won the future talent case study challenge at adidas, Michael (Team Rome 2016) won a start-up competition by HSG and Studienstiftung, and Pelumi got awarded training on European Projects and International Relations at the Catalan Tourist Board with the Catalan government.
As we all know: Mens Sana In Corpore Sano, so we shouldn’t forget that York, Tobi and Michael all finished Marathons, and Michael is now enrolled in training for Ironman Zurich!
However, this is only a glimpse at what our alumni are currently involved in, they also finished degrees, got published, entered the working world, changed careers and travelled the world. We are more than excited for another year of be.boosted! #be.excited
