What does be.boosted do?
Our primary activities are training, conferences, mentoring, community and outreach. We aim to strengthen the self-awareness and skills of up to 30 students a year taking part in our training programmes and put the newly improved and developed skills to the test at Model United Nations conferences. As an association, we foster cooperation within our alumni network to improve the communities we are part of and to further develop our skills. Lastly we work beyond the fellowship through our own conferences, expert sessions, and alumni networking events and workshops.
Who is working behind the scenes of be.boosted?
The people working in the core team of be.boosted are students/ young professionals, and they work for be.boosted entirely on a voluntary basis without any financial profits. Our team members come from a variety of different backgrounds and places. You can find more information on our team page!
What has be.boosted achieved so far?
LIMUN
Diplomacy Awards
|
Havard WorldMUN
Diplomacy Awards
|
be.boosted has been up and running since the fall of 2013. Since then, we have trained more than 100 future global leaders in six generations and accompanied them on their road to become the leader they want to be, and touched many more young minds. We have helped them develop their own leadership styles and equipped them with skills in public speaking, negotiation and networking. Moreover, we established a network of highly talented and ambitious young people, who help and inspire each other. Our participants have founded their own startups and conferences, are leaders in business and research or have won social engagement prizes. Additionally, we continue to win awards at MUN. In the last three years alone, we have won 31 Diplomacy Awards at LIMUN as well 10 Diplomacy Awards at Harvard WorldMUN and, what’s more important, we are honored with Delegation Awards at LiMUN and WorldMUN.
Is be.boosted completely volunteer-driven? / Does be.boosted work together with experts?
be.boosted started out as a completely student-run initiative. Since then, some of our alumni already graduated and are therefore already working now, becoming experts and leaders in their respective fields. We continue to work together and build our project on their skills and expertise. We are young and we are also eager to work with experts in the field who are willing to let us and our network partake in their vast experience, and have done so throughout the years.
What do I get from the fellowship?
The fellowship is about your development. We are focused on improving your skills in public speaking, negotiation and networking and the fellowship will be a space for you to find and develop your own identity as a future leader. You will reflect on your skills and leadership style and profit from peer-to-peer feedback, which is central to all the training we do. Many of our fellows also reported that they further developed in very individual areas of interest and skill, ranging from project management to resilience.
Which costs are associated with the programme?
be.boosted is a student-driven initiative run on a voluntary basis. The program is funded by voluntary contributions, sponsors and fundraising from the fellows as a team effort. The membership contribution for the fellowship is 350€. This will get you the participation in an intense five month personal development, training and leadership program which includes weekly online trainings, three offline training weekends and expert sessions leading up to the participation at Harvard WorldMUN in Tokyo and London International MUN. Within set boundaries we will cover your travel expenses to the offline weekends and contribute to your flights to both conferences (anticipated to be 80€ per offline training weekend; higher for WorldMUN). We also cover your conference fees at WorldMUN and LIMUN and your accommodation in London and Tokyo. The costs covered by be.boosted therefore exceed the 350€. Personal expenses such as costs for socials at the conferences and for food during the offline weekends and conferences are not included. You will receive your travel refunds after the fellowship has ended.
be.boosted is a non-profit and voluntarily run organisation, which means that we rely on support ranging from grants to corporate sponsors. We would like to ask you to be aware that we might ask you to give us a hand in this process. We believe your involvement increases team spirit, motivation and program adherence.
If you need additional information, please feel free to contact our team and we will provide you with all details based on the experience of our past fellows. Also, in case of financial hardship, do not hesitate to contact our team either. We will do our best to make our program available to you irrespective of your financial background.

What do I learn at be.boosted?
Our skill development takes many facets, all of which are theory-based and merged into application-ready tools. Training sessions include MUNing skills both for experienced MUNers and conference newbies, Harvard-style negotiating, public speaking, debating, persuasion and many more. Beyond skills, we put a large emphasis on helping you reflect on your personal strengths and weaknesses, your personal path, and the way you interact with your surroundings, so you can gain some perspective and tailor your behavior better to your individual starting point - way beyond Model United Nations conferences.
How much do I need to commit to the fellowship?
We get this question a lot! Naturally, we would love for you to join all training sessions in order to get the most value out of your fellowship. From past fellows we get the impression that the time commitment towards be.boosted is manageable. The fact that past fellows successfully studied, travelled, did job interviews and founded companies (yep, that happened!) during the fellowship reflects this. During the first weeks of training, we estimate you will need to spend approximately two to three hours per week for the weekly online call and little exercises that come with these.
On top of this, there will be three offline training weekends - one before Christmas, one in January and one in February. The weekends will start on Friday afternoon and will run until Sunday afternoon. We see the entire weekend as part of our programme, which will also include group dinners and activities after the training day has ended. The whole offline weekends are an integral part of the Fellowship and being able to participate in all three is a key component of our programme. During the time immediately before LIMUN/WorldMUN next year (i.e. in February and March 2020), you might spend some more time to prepare for the conferences, but this will as well be manageable :). After the fellowship, we encourage all of our participants to stay involved with be.boosted and become an active part of our alumni community.

Are you looking for people who already have MUN experience?
No. Our training programme is designed to build your MUN skills from the ground up and we cover everything you need to know to succeed at LIMUN and WorldMUN. That being said, we do think that some MUN experience can help you during the fellowship and that it can also be beneficial for your peers in the fellowship. In the past delegations, we have accepted numerous applicants without MUN experience, and we will continue to do so.
Are you looking for specific subjects?
No. Our experience has shown has that not only does the fellowship team profit from a diverse range of experience and perspectives both in the training and at WorldMUN, we also strongly believe that leadership skills and everything else we cover at be.boosted is relevant to people working across all sectors. Thus, we welcome applicants from all fields. And we mean it.
Who decides about the applications and who will make it into the fellowship?
The be.boosted recruiting team, consisting of trainer and alumni. We have formulated clear internal selection criteria before every recruiting phase, and invite experienced members of the core team to join the selection committee. Final responsibility for selecting fellows rests with this selection committee. At the recruiting day, we might invite other parties present to voice their observations and opinions on certain candidates, but at no point will decisions about the fellowship be made by parties other than the be.boosted selection committee.
What set of criteria is used to select the people?
Our criteria for selecting fellows include a solid academic standing, a demonstration of a keen interest in making an impact beyond academia and an international outlook. We are recruiting fellows who demonstrate a great potential to learn and develop, above all else.
Do I need to have an A+ average?
No. We are happy for you if you have good grades. For the fellowship, they will not be the decisive criterion.
What about the workshop for applicants before the recruiting day and online interviews?
Successful candidates invited to an interview/the recruiting day will be invited to join an online workshop to prepare for the next steps of the application process shortly before the event. We will send further information to these applicants via email in due course.
When is the Recruiting Day going to be? And where?
The Recruiting day is going to take place on the 19th of October. We look forward to welcoming you in Munich. The exact address will be announced. To cover the costs associated with the recruiting day, such as food, drinks and location, we would like to ask everyone who is able to for a voluntary contribution of 5 €, there will be a cashbox on the day.
Do I have to be there in order to get the fellowship?
We highly recommend you to be at the recruiting day as you will have a chance to meet be.boosted and your future fellow delegates. We are working hard on preparing a diverse program for you that’s more than “just” an application day and rather see it as your first opportunity to meet inspiring people, network and get to know the faces behind the program. This day will be an experience on its own! In case you cannot make it to the recruiting day we also offer you the opportunity for an online interview. However, online spots are limited.
Will I get a certificate for participating?
If desired, drop us an email and you will receive a certificate that states you participated in our recruiting day.
What’s the schedule for the Recruiting Day?
We will send the schedule for the recruiting day to all invited applicants in time for the event. To give you an approximation of the length of the day: Last year's recruitment day started at 9am and ended around 4pm.
What is the dress code?
The be.boosted team will be wearing smart casual clothing and you are invited to do so too.
Who are the partners of be.boosted?
be.boosted works together with a variety of partners, including public bodies, companies seeking for future global leaders, high potential networks, experts from academia and other parts of society, as well as several student organisations. You can find more information on current and past partners and the way we work together here.
Why does be.boosted have partners?
The support of our partners helps us provide many of the benefits we deliver, such as travel funding or conference fees. Moreover, our partners, both individual and corporate, make their substantive expertise and knowledge available to our participants in talks, in panel session and in skill workshops.
What is MUN?
MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is a simulation where students slip into the role of diplomats to the UN, and debate current affairs from the perspective of a foreign nation in the scope of a council of the UN. We think it’s also the perfect vehicle for applying leadership skills.
What can I learn from MUN?
From MUNing with us, you’ll gain some insights into international relations and current affairs, you’ll be able to meet students from around the world, and grow your network of inspiring peers. At the heart of our mission, we also use MUN to teach you the skills that make the world go round. We think the setting of MUN is the perfect challenge to simulate leadership challenges that will await you down your career path, and help you learn how to face them.

We are proud that many delegates and MUN friends have told our delegates they were excelling at the conferences they attended. Our MUN mantra is to take responsibility for driving committees forward, and to do so in a fair and inclusive manner. This has led many other delegations to tell us how much they enjoyed working with our delegates. If you want the hard facts: be.boosted trainers are proud to report that our delegation is the three times consecutive best German team at Harvard WorldMUN. In the last three years alone, we have won 31 Diplomacy Awards at LIMUN as well 10 Diplomacy Awards at Harvard WorldMUN and, what’s more important, we are honored with Delegation Awards at LiMUN and WorldMUN. Alexia Sideris, a passionate MUNer and employee of various MUN associations, wrote about be.boosted on munplanet in 2018: “(…) they know what they are doing and they have already taken all the steps to create the ladder you need when dropping the M from MUN (…) Each and every one of their activities actually brings you a step closer to becoming a diplomat.” (the full read: be.boosted is restoring MUN's prestige).
Do I have to leave my MUN society if I want to join be.boosted?
Not at all! We encourage you to stick to your MUN society, and see which of the things you learn from us you can apply there, too, and vice versa. However, during the fellowship, in particular at LIMUN and WorldMUN, you will represent be.boosted.
